Last years we received many paintings from different countries of the world, mostly France, Germany, USA. Sending us a painting has the main advantage, that a work of Polish artist will sell best in Poland.

It comes from the general rule observed in the art market, that the best prices are obtained in the country of the artist. Well, it is also easy to explain since usually painters made their works using cultural or historical background of their countries. That is why Polish artists of XIX/XX century often show in their works horses, countryside landscapes or events from Polish history.

Since over 10 years Poland has been developing free market economy, changing bank system, duty charges and tax regulations in order to fit the Europe Community law. That is why now it is safe and easy to send us an object and, if unsold, take it back.

There are still some restrictions related to export of art - especially all items older than 55 years are subject to export license that is usually granted for 25% lot fee, due to the State.
This, however do not apply to objects incoming from outside of Poland, provided we perform a conditional custom clearance. This is quite easy, and totally costless for customers operation (for non-EU owners). We only need a proforma invoice made by you, according to the specimen you can download here.

The European Union owners only send a written statement on an item's picture that they wish the lot to be send back to them if unsold.

There are few steps how to send us a painting :

  1. You find a local shipper. We do not recommend courier companies like UPS or DHL because they are costly and usually do not insure art objects. We suggest simply air cargo companies like Lufthansa Cargo or other specialized in sending art objects. Fedex is also good however more expensive.

  2. You pack the painting carefully expecially if it has a fragile frame (watch for corners !). Some shipping companies can do it for you for a fee.

  3. (applies to non EU countries, if you send us an EU country just send it by a shipper of your choice)

    You include documents
as proforma invoice - it is very important you include 3 originals. We need an original for custom clearance procedure, any xero, fax won't do. Upon our experience, we know, that if you prepare 3 originals we get finally 1, others are taken by shipper.

  4. You send us via email an airway bill no (AWB) as soon as you get it from your shipper. We can then prepare custom procedure before even the object lands in Warsaw.

  5. Since we get the painting out of the airport we send you our consignment sale agreement (a specimen you can download here), with a request you fill it and send us one copy back. Upon the agreement we will be able to transfer you money after the sale.
